Diabetic and looking for help

Postby golem269 » Apr 18, 2016 2:07 pm

I was diagnosed pre-diabetic not long ago. I thought this bought me some time. My friend who is diabetic informed be that what I have is diabetes in it's early stages.

I have a nutritionist that is old school she recommends meat, dairy, fish and poultry. I don't want to go that route, I do want to know how to take care of my nutritional needs, without eating meat or consuming dairy. Are there guidelines somewhere to help me to eat from all of the food groups with the right portion sizes for each meal?

I do have the forks over knives cook book and a couple other cook books, some include oil, I've been cutting out oil though,

I'd appreciate any help. Thank you!

Do you drink a lot of tea or coffee, golem269? If so, do you sweeten them with sugar?

I'm asking because a lot of people don't pay close attention to the huge amounts of sugar that they put in their hot beverages.

Sugar KILLS! Replace your sugar needs with stevia. Stevia is a 0-calorie sweetener made from the leaves of a natural plant. This sweetener is safe for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Do not, however, purchase stevia sweeteners that have been laced with glucose/fructose and/or dextrose. In my opinion those sweeteners are just as bad as sugar is.

I, myself, use stevia tabs to sweeten my hot drinks. Check out: www.sweetleaf.com

Watercress is one of the treatment for diabetes due to it contains alpha-lipoic acid which can boost the curing process faster. Many people eat watercress in order to reduce your glucose levels and raise the insulin sensitivity.
You can read more information here https://wikihomenutrition.com/watercres ... 4_Diabetes
I hope it can help you :)

Well, I think you are right. If you make plan of the diet by yourself, you can review it's effectiveness more easily. There are many suggestion of foods to treat diabetes that you can take consideration. As I know green beans, squash anh moringa are some of them. Some article confirmed about benefits of 3 above foods in diabetes treatment. You can see them at:
