Re: Health problems after being a vegan

Oh, most definately, Meign.

Such as red licorice, potato chips, hard candy. Trust me, I love junk food and always manage to fit it into my otherwise healthy diet.

Re: Vegan Shoes

Any recommendations for good walking shoes? I do recall years ago getting faux leather sneakers, and boy, they sure pinched my toes. I would like material which stretches to accommodate your feet and that can be broken in easily. I like canvas and wished that those converse basketball high tops were...

Should have written K-Pax - sorry - it's a film with Kevin Spacey & Jeff Bridges, about an individual called Prot who claims to be from the planet K-Pax. Prot is committed to a mental institution where he is treated as delusional, but his doctor struggles to diagnose him with an actual mental i...

Re: Shocked and appualed by the message sent out by vegtalk

Gotta say that I take a dim view of any kind of sexploitation of women. It is just another form of oppression... I don't see how it can forward the message behind being vegan... To address the weight issue: :cat: Oh, but I DO hope I can lose some weight by having adopted a vegan diet, lol. I am, wel...

Re: Calcium

I'd read in' the idiot's guide ro vegan living', that the world health organization recommends 400-500 mg calcium daily, instead of the typically advocated 1200 mg. Perhaps the latter requirement is inflated. I hope so. I do drink soy milk and eat a lot of greens. I got truly sick of taking calcium ...

I'd sure love a vegan recipe for popovers or Yorkshire puddi

I used to make Yorkshire puddings often. I adore them. But, alas, they call for eggs. I have noted many Brits on this forum and wonder if any of you folks would know of a way to make these puddings sans the eggs.

Re: Health problems after being a vegan

Fartulance . Oh, that is funny! I'm gonna borrow that clever expression... If you eat lots of whole grains, as well as many servings of veg and fruit, not to mention legumes, you'll never suffer constipation. I agree that eating a junk food vegan diet is not recommended. While I understand that som...

Hello, I am snog

Glad to have found this forum. I have been vegetarian for nearly 36 years. I have also flirted with being vegan off and on many times throughout those years. I have become primarily vegan recently. Of course, the ethical reasons for doing so are uppermost. But for more selfish reasons, I feel that a...

Indeed. Wise words, grandma!

Re: Vegetarian Arrogance

Well, I often find carnivores to feel theatened by vegan/ vegetarianism. However, many are, indeed, quite tolerant. For myself, I truly don't care if some one is a carnivore. Each to their own. I also refuse to be a vegan evangelist. What I do find very annoying is when vegans and vegetarians are 'f...
