Re: Coconut "TREE OF LIFE"

I keep cans of coconut milk handy at all times. It's the easiest thing to saute a huge pan of vegetables, then add the coconut milk for a quick simmer, then cool and eat with rice. It's so delicious. The best vegetables to include are broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and bell peppers. I don't overcook t...

Re: Any Suggestions? I'm Allergic To Soy!

Here you can see a list of raw vegan products rich in proteins: https://food.vegtalk.org/nutrients/fruits-vegetables-nuts-raw/Protein-desc/ This list emphasizes raw foods. I noticed raw cashews are very high on the list for food values. However, I've heard that raw cashews are toxic. The list makes...

I never really wanted to eat fish anyway. I'm pretty much done with it.

Mostly.

Just about.

Re: Vegetarian Arrogance

Does anyone think that we vegetarians can come off as arrogant sometimes? Yes. Not eating animals, does not automatically entitle someone to force their opinions on others; especially if the info, that he/she is espousing, is baseless and not properly researched. And yet carnivores seem to do exact...

Re: Omnivores exiled in Bombay

Now if only those Indians could learn how to cook decent vegan meals. I'm sorry, but Indian food is terrible. I've tried several Indian restaurants in my area over the years, and never have I truly enjoyed the food. Oh sure, some of it is decent, but so much of it is awful, and most of it is simply ...

Peasant Lentil Stew

This is a new one that I put together just last night. It's so awesome that even my daughter who has never liked lentils before ate 3 bowls of this delicious stew. Ingredients: Wild brown rice (Lundbergs makes this one - damn it's good) Lentils Cook the two completely (together if you dare) until te...

Re: Vegetarian Arrogance

Carnivores are arrogant. Most of them have absolutely no compassion or empathy if you are medically required to eat vegan (which is my case). They care not a whit that you can't sit with them and have a bacon cheeseburger. They think a salad and crackers is all you need. Beans? The only beans they e...

The flavor of homemade hummus is definitely much better. I also have a problem with the consistency not being the same as commercial hummus. But as far as I'm concerned, that's not a big issue. The taste is more important. Much of the commercial hummus at typical grocery stores has a nice consistenc...

Never let yourself get hungry. Always have on hand some toasted nuts, fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains to snack on. It is a natural sugar substitute similar to Truvia or Splenda. You may be able to find them in the same section of your grocery store that sells those items, near the sugar.

Natural food stores are familiar with Stevia.

Slender is healthy only if it includes athleticism. Skinny and weak aren't attractive. I think a slender woman with well developed athletic legs is damn sexy.

The only really fat women I know are cheese-loving carnivores. As far as the picture in question is concerned, it doesn't do much for me.

I buy raw almonds and roast them at home without salt. We keep a bowl of them handy at all times. When I travel from home, I take a baggie full of delicious home-roasted almonds. Becoming vegan is hard enough when your family supports you. I can't imagine trying to do it without having good support at home. I am much older than most of you and have finally (after a lifetime of being a carnivore) concluded that a vegan diet is the best diet for everyone. We would have less he...

This is an easy thing to put together, and I'll bet a lot of you have already done one version of this or another. The salsa can be used as a dip for chips or a topping for tostadas. First make a salsa with the following FRESH ingredients chopped finely: tomatoes green bell pepper jalapenos onion ci...

This is not a problem. I take a multivitamin daily that contains 18 mcg of B12, or 300% of the recommended daily value.

I won't eat meat just to get B12. That is a totally absurd notion to foist upon people, that they MUST eat meat or die.

It's obvious that you are not eating correctly. Eating vegan to some people means eating Twinkies all day long. That will kill you.

If you are not up to the challenge of eating a wide variety of protein-rich plant-based foods, then eating vegan won't work out for you.

No, but we shouldn't be subsidizing the industry with our tax money either. For instance, we subsidize corn and then force-feed it to the animals along with the antibiotics and other additives. The government agencies that oversee the food industry are led by the same people that sit on the corporat...

Nine months for me too. It's been a process, and being a carnivore for so many years I am quite accustomed to eating meat. The problem comes with hunger. As far as health reasons are concerned, fish is healthy. I myself enjoy grilled escolar a couple of times a year at the Fresh Fish Company in Denver.

But for day to day eating, I avoid fish anymore.

This is good news, as I was hoping to travel to London next year. My bias tells me that I won't have much to eat there other than bar food - fish and chips - you know, the stereotypical British diet such as bangers and mashers.
