Vegan deodorant, Shampoo, perfumes and other stuff

Postby DDURAN » Apr 18, 2013 11:41 pm

Hi veggie-buddies,

This is my first post on this forum. I saw in fb an infographic on deodorants and how toxic the chemicals are and what type of diseases they produce. I noticed my deodorant contained one of those chemicals!! Does anyone have any tips on keeping yourself fresh and odorless throughout the day?

I already use organic shampoo and soaps. I also shower often...

I've been researching hygiene items and the harmful chemicals that many of them contain. For the past few months I have been experimenting with making my own vegan products. For deodorant, I make my own using baking soda and have tried lemon juice as well. I think there's also a salt cube that you can get from Whole Foods. Depending on your activity level, you may have to reapply throughout the day!

As far as shampoo goes, I clarify with apple cider vinegar instead. Shampoo strips the hair of its natural oils and dries out the hair. might want to experiment with essential oils.

It's actually been fun making my own products and I've saved tons of money by not spending $30+ on shampoos and other hygiene products.
